Mental Health Parity Update
Two-year Anniversary:
April 29th marks the two year anniversary of President Bush's call on Congress to pass mental health parity legislation. It is critical to demonstrate to the White House that passage of the Paul Wellstone Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act (S. 486/H.R. 953) is important to the American public.
Despite broad support for this legislation (69 cosponsors in the Senate and 245 in the House of Representatives), congressional leaders have held up the "Senator Paul Wellstone Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act." (S. 486/H.R. 953). Two years have passed since President Bush expressed support for full mental health parity legislation.
We need to keep up the pressure to force action on parity. Please contact the White House to urge the President to renew his call for passage of parity legislation.
Action:
Call/Email the President to urge him to reach out to congressional leaders for passage of the Paul Wellstone Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act.
